Gilgandra Aged Care & Disabilities to Transform CBD Tavern Building into New Centralised Service Hub
In a significant development for the community, Gilgandra Aged Care & Disabilities is set to consolidate all services into one centrally located premises, in the vacant Tavern building located at 41 Miller Street. This move is designed to enhance accessibility and awareness of the services available to the community, through Gilgandra Lifestyles and Orana Living.
Gilgandra Aged Care & Disabilities is an umbrella brand that ties together Gilgandra Lifestyles (aged care) and Orana Living (disability) services for the local community. These services are offered by the Gilgandra Shire Council (Council), and include:
- Cooee Retirement Village,
- Cooee Lodge Hostel,
- Jack Towney Hostel,
- Community Care,
- Home Care Packages,
- Orana Living Life Skills Centre, and
- Carlginda Enterprises.
Donna Dobson, Director of Aged Care & Disabilities commented on the strategic move and the positive impacts it will have for the community,
"We are very excited to have all areas and services within Aged Care & Disabilities located in the centre of Gilgandra's CBD. This move will not only make it easier for our community to access this wide range of essential services, but will also enhance our customer service experience by being more suitably located."
Adding,
"Housing each of the services under the same roof, there is opportunity to fill a vacant building whilst also streamlining and improving our internal operations. We are eager to work with the Commonwealth on this transition, in achievement of providing accessible integrated health services and equity to the Gilgandra community, as identified in the Gilgandra Community Health Vision"
Council is currently out for Tender for the fit-out of the new building, marking a meaningful investment in local infrastructure. The upgrades aim to bring new life into a vacant building contributing to the vibrancy and economic health for Gilgandra.
Council, with Gilgandra Lifestyles and Orana Living look forward to the positive impact this move will have on the community. The move is anticipated to occur towards the end of the first quarter in 2025.
Progress updates will be shared as this project moves forward, and we look forward to welcoming the community to experience the transformed Tavern building in the heart of the CBD.
