Girl Arrested After Four-hour Drive In Stolen Vehicle

Officers have arrested a 16-year-old girl in possession of a stolen vehicle in Armstrong Creek this morning.

Police responded to reports that two females had assaulted a victim and stolen their white Honda Civic on Surf Coast Highway in Armstrong Creek last night about 10.45pm.

The victim sustained a minor injury.

The stolen Honda was spotted by police driving from Waurn Ponds in the direction of Altona about 12.15am.

Officers on the road kept their distance as Airwing tracked the Honda from Altona to Geelong, and then from Geelong to Fawkner, reaching speeds of up to 160km/hr.

The Honda continued onto the Ring Road; Altona bound about 2am.

The stolen vehicle continued on to the Princes Fwy towards Geelong, all the way to the Surf Coast Highway in Armstrong, where police successfully deployed stop sticks.

The driver got out of the vehicle a short distance away and was promptly arrested by officer about 2.55am.

No one was injured.

A 16-year-old girl from the Geelong area is currently in custody and will be interviewed by police.
