As part of Homelessness Week, 7-13 August 2021, Shoalhaven City Council in partnership with Grand Pacific Health with the support of local homelessness services will be hosting Thrive Together Fair and, are calling for donations to help those in need this winter.
New items such as non-perishable food, toiletries, blankets, sanitary products, baby supplies, toys and books as well as vouchers can be donated at locations across Shoalhaven. The donations will be prepared into dignity packs and distributed as part of Homelessness Week 2021.
Donations of items and vouchers can be dropped at several Council facilities or given online through the GIVIT platform.
Donations from the community will make up dignity packs which will be given out at the Thrive Together Fair, during Homelessness Week, for those people in the community who are "doing it tough".
The event will take place at the Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre, Bomaderry on Wednesday 4th August 2021 from 10.00am – 3.00pm.
Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley said the one-day event aims to connect people who are doing it tough with the services and support they need.
"All community members who are "doing it tough", whether that be by experiencing financial or housing hardship, having been affected by the recent natural disasters and pandemic, or at risk of or experiencing homelessness, are welcome to participate in this free event," Clr Findley said.
"Winter can be a particularly difficult time of year for many in our community. Even a small donation can make a big difference in someone's life. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and support each other. If you are able to donate, please do so", Clr Findley.
