Global Tech Giant Opens Headquarters In Victoria

VIC Premier

A global tech leader has opened its Australian headquarters in Melbourne - adding another international player to the state's growing tech sector and creating more than 400 local jobs over the next five years.

Firstsource Solutions is a global leader in digital transformation. Working closely with industries like healthcare, banking and financial services, communications, media and technology, retail, education and energy, Firstsource helps other companies drive innovation.

The new headquarters will include an innovation lab focused on accelerating AI adoption and business transformation for Australian clients, as well as responsible AI deployment.

The innovation lab is set to be fully operational by late 2025 and will work with Victorian universities to advance research in AI, engineering, robotics and digital experimentation.

Melbourne's thriving tech startup scene, strong talent pool and leading universities were key factors in Firstsource's decision to establish headquarters here in Victoria.

The Premier announced the tech giant would locate its ANZ headquarters in Melbourne when visiting Delhi last year, as part of the Labor Government's work to strengthen its relationship with India as outlined in Victoria's India Strategy 2025-2030.

India is already a major two-way trading partner for Victoria, with a value of $3.6 billion last financial year.

Victoria is the nation's tech capital with an established workforce and a pipeline of more engineering and IT graduates than anywhere else in Australia. One hundred of the 400 jobs the Firstsource headquarters will create have already been filled locally.

Firstsource's Melbourne office builds on the state's reputation for attracting global tech companies, alongside Infosys, Tata, Sonata, UST, Fractal, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra and Wipro - which have all recently expanded here, creating new local tech jobs in a range of fields.

The Labor Government's Economic Growth Statement highlights Victoria's plan to turbocharge international investment in the state and drive highly skilled local jobs, with digital technologies identified as a key priority sector.

As stated by Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs Danny Pearson

"Global leaders like Firstsource are investing in Victoria because we are the nation's tech capital - we have the skilled workforce these companies need to grow, as well as a strong pipeline of graduates."

"Victoria is the place to be for global tech leaders wanting to expand their operations. We have the talent pool, the innovation and capabilities, and the startup energy right here in Melbourne."

As stated by Chairman of RPSG Group and Firstsource, Dr. Sanjiv Goenka

"By leveraging the Victoria Government's investments and access to the exceptional talent from top universities, we're fostering a dynamic, mutually beneficial partnership. With a strong IT industry and an innovation-driven mindset, Australia aligns perfectly with our vision-we're committed to building programs that harness its full potential."
