A record breaking 1970 Holden HT GTS 350 Bathurst Monaro owned by a Gold Coast local, who bought the car at auction 6 years ago is now sending it to auction again and expecting to break records once again.
The iconic vehicle has been under lock and key in his mancave and is set to fetch high 6 figures come auction day on Saturday the 29th of April, and break a record just as it did 6 years ago at auction back in March, 2017.
"It was an intense race between an online bidder and an in-house bidder, with the in-house bidder coming out on top, breaking the record and selling for $310,000 in 2017," continued Mr. Hames.
"Now 6 years later, we have had an extreme amount of enquiry for this spectacular classic, it is the most anticipated car of the auction once again, and we expect that it will reach record prices in the high 6 figures," said Mr. Hames.
This model of Monaro once retailed for just $7000 back when they were released in 1970 and is now known as one of the most iconic Holdens ever made.
Based on the vehicle selling for $7000 in 1970, to $310,000 in 2017, that is a 4000% increase, and with it now being expected to reach high 6-figures, this could be more than double the investment.
According to the Knight Frank 2022 Wealth Report, classic cars are not hitting the breaks when it comes to passion investments, where they are consistently the second most popular object of luxury investments internationally after fine art.
Knight Frank's Luxury Investing Index also reports that classic and luxury cars have returned 193 per cent over the past decade. In fact, it has been reported that certain classics have appreciated by as much as 25 per cent annually, with 10-15 per cent being quite common for vehicles from the nostalgic 90s.
The car has been fully verified by ICAARS with all correct matching numbers and presenting like new with a full 2-year nut and bolt restoration.
"I hope the new custodian will enjoy and love this car just as much as I have over the past 6 years," said the current custodian.
This iconic Holden Monaro and over 250 classic cars will be going under the hammer on Sunday 29th April from 10am, it is an auction not to be missed.
