Gold Coast Man Charged With Child Abuse, Grooming

Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit have charged a 22-year-old man following investigations into alleged child abuse offences.

As a result of a public appeal and investigations, police executed a search warrant at a Helensvale address on March 3 and seized a number of electronic devices.

The 22-year-old man was arrested yesterday in relation to alleged offences against one child under 16 that took place last month.

The man has been charged with four counts of indecent treatment of child under 16, two counts of engaging in penile intercourse with child under 16 and one count each of grooming child under 16, involving child in making child exploitation material and distribute child exploitation material.

He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
