Get ready to mark what makes the Gold Coast and this country great with an Australia Day gathering at HOTA.
The City's Australia Day event will kick off from 4pm and will provide Gold Coasters a place to reflect, respect and celebrate the nation by getting together with family and friends.
There will be kids' activities, live music and food trucks until the event culminates with a fireworks finale which starts about 7.50pm.
The alcohol-free event will follow 250 Gold Coasters making the final step to becoming an Australian citizen in a private citizenship ceremony.
"What better way to celebrate Australia Day than by doing something very Australian – getting together with friends and family and having fun outdoors," Mayor Tom Tate said.
"The event will also provide a chance to reflect on our history and share the stories of others."
There will be live music from HaydenGoSeek and The Good Band and 42 Band as well as performances from some Gold Coast Eisteddfod winners.
When: 4pm to 8pm, 26 January
Where: HOTA Outdoor Stage, Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise
Getting there: Make your journey active and walk, ride, scoot or skate to the event. If driving your car is a must, please consider carpooling. Parking at the HOTA precinct will be free of charge on Australia Day but limited.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Australian citizenship. In the past 75 years more than six million people from more than 200 nations have chosen to become Australians.
"The special citizenship ceremony and following public event is an opportunity to welcome the new citizen who chose to make the Gold Coast and Australia their home," Mayor Tate said.
City of Gold Coast's Australia Day Celebrations are assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
