The Gold Coast Police District proudly welcomed ten new First Year Constables (FYC) today, following their recent induction into the Queensland Police Service (QPS). These officers, fresh from the Oxley Police Academy, will begin their careers serving communities across the Gold Coast region, starting with orientation at the Mudgeeraba Police Station.
The ten recruits are part of a larger cohort of 128 who were officially sworn in on September 19, during a ceremony at the Oxley academy. Each of these new officers has completed rigorous training and is now ready to serve and protect the people of Queensland.
The new FYCs will initially be deployed to various stations across the Gold Coast in the following areas:
- Broadbeach: 2 officers
- Nerang: 1 officer
- Pimpama: 2 officers
- Palm Beach: 1 officer
- Robina: 1 officer
- Runaway Bay: 2 officers
- Southport: 1 officer
Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles commended the arrival of the new constables, emphasising the importance of having a strong and responsive police presence in such a vibrant and growing region.
"The Gold Coast is a dynamic area, requiring police officers that can keep pace with the demands of our diverse and bustling community,"
"The addition of these new recruits strengthens our capability to ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike."
"We are immensely grateful for their commitment and service. These officers will be joining a team of seasoned professionals dedicated to maintaining law and order, and I have no doubt they will make a meaningful contribution from day one."
The new constables will undertake their initial assignments under the guidance of experienced officers, as they gain hands-on experience in various operational aspects of policing. They will be involved in community engagement, crime prevention, and enforcement activities, playing a crucial role in one of Queensland's busiest regions.
"Starting their careers in such a high-demand area will offer them valuable experience. I wish them all the best as they embark on their new journey with the Queensland Police Service," Acting Superintendent Knowles said.
