A new promenade making the most of expansive views along the Gold Coast's spectacular coastline is nearing completion at The Spit.
Inspecting final stage works on the Seaway Promenade today, Acting Premier Steven Miles, said it signals further progress with the delivery of The Spit Master Plan.
"Locals and visitors will be able to stroll out to the viewing platform at the end of the seawall and enjoy views south along the city's coastline and to the north the scenic beaches of South Stradbroke Island.
"The Seaway Promenade will become one of the Gold Coast's must-visit destinations.
"It's exciting to see these new spaces coming to life as we work to transform the Spit into a premium destination."
Mr Miles said that the Seaway Promenade, the recently-opened Moondarewa Spit foreshore improvements and a shared pathway between Sea World and Doug Jennings Park was the result of a $6.84 million investment from the Palaszczuk Government.
"People can now enjoy the open spaces with plenty of spots to soak up the beautiful views, especially taking in the sunset at Moondarewa Spit," he said.
"The shared cycling and pedestrian pathway from SeaWorld to Doug Jennings Park improves safety and access for people looking for alternatives to driving to The Spit.
"We're building infrastructure and creating jobs as part of our Government's economic recovery plan."
Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon said The Spit was a destination for locals and tourists.
"Whether it's walking your dog, going for a swim or having a family bbq, The Spit has something for everyone," Ms Scanlon said.
"Importantly, these facilities were delivered by two local Gold Coast companies, Hazell Brothers and Place Design Group, generating more than 20 jobs."
The next phase of The Spit Master Plan Implementation is progressing, with a contract for the design work on a pontoon and jetty at the northern end of Marine Stadium being awarded to GHD.
Construction is due to start mid-year on the $4 million jetty and pontoon.
GCWA CEO Hal Morris said it's exciting to see The Spit Master Plan come to life.
"The Spit is well-loved by locals and visitors and it's great to be delivering the facilities the community told us they wanted to see there when we undertook consultation for the Master Plan," Mr Morris said.
The Seaway Promenade is expected to open next month.
