Chefs are cooking up a storm to enhance Queensland's great foodie lifestyle and create more good jobs with five events serving up to 40,000 visitors and $6 million for regional economies.
Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said gourmet travellers were hungry for unique Queensland foodie experiences.
"From tasty Queensland-grown fruit and veggies to delicious seafood, our State has a terrific reputation as the food bowl of Australia and Asia," Mr Hinchliffe said.
"Queensland food festivals are where hatted restaurants and secret family recipes come together to create unique and popular visitor experiences.
"Last weekend's Moreton Bay Food and Wine Festival and the Kingaroy Baconfest tempted more than 20,000 sets of tastebuds while cooking up $2.5 million for visitor economies.
"Research by Tourism and Events Queensland shows eating out is the number one activity travellers are feasting on right now with a trio of back-to-back foodie celebrations from this weekend.
"The Crafted Festival at Broadbeach lifts the lid on Queensland's favourite brews, followed by Cleveland's sweet Redfest Strawberry Festival the weekend after, then the Blackbutt Avocado Festival."
Mr Hinchliffe said Queensland food events brought local communities together and delivered visitors from all over the country.
"When visitors hit the road to sample the tastes of Queensland at food events they support cafes, restaurants, accommodation providers and tourism operators," Mr Hinchliffe said.
"Palaszczuk Government-backed foodie festivals are an investment in Queensland's international clean, green, fresh food reputation and our visitor economy."
Annual Blackbutt Avocado Festival organiser Jeff Connor said festival ticket sales were strong.
"Celebrity Chef Dominique Rizzo will be showcasing the ways avocados can be eaten," he said.
"We're inspiring tummies with chilled avocado soup, king fish crudo, garlic chips, charred corn finger, chocolate avocado cheesecake, Italian scorched meringue and a raspberry balsamic strawberry salad, to name a few.
"Queensland produces some of the best food in the world and at AvoFest we see it as our responsibility to show how to make the most of the great food we grow.
"The Blackbutt Avocado Festival is Queensland's place to be for new avocado dishes and even avocado skydiving."
The Crafted Festival at Broadbeach is on tap this weekend, followed by Redfest Strawberry Festival from 2-4 September and the Blackbutt Avocado Festival on 10 September.
