Volunteering WA welcomes the announcement from the Hon Don Punch MLA, Minister for Volunteering, of $2.1 million for the volunteering sector.
Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams said it was a game-changer for volunteering in Western Australia.
"This substantial investment in volunteering for the regions, as we know it will pay dividends for years to come. This funding commitment clearly recognises that for every $1 spent on volunteering, $4.70 in benefits are returned to the community," Williams said.
The funding announcement coincides with International Volunteer Day, when the contribution of volunteers is celebrated and recognised around the world.
This year's theme – "If Everyone Did…" centres on 'everyone' and focuses on collective action to respond to the challenges we face in the community.
"This announcement aligns with our advocacy to increase State Government funding for volunteers and volunteer organisations in regional areas. We thank the State Government for this tangible investment," said Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams.
