In the lead up to Schoolies and festival season, Dr Mitchell Tanner, one of Australia’s prominent sexual health focused GPs has appealed to young Australians to book in an STI test.

“We know that testing is one of the most effective ways to curb sexually transmitted infections and as the weather warms up and Schoolies and festivals kick-off, we see an increase in positive cases in younger age groups.” Dr Mitchell Tanner co-founder of Stigma Health said.

The biggest barrier to testing has been access and cost however Stigma Health has changed the game by offering online referrals through an Australian-first app and a bulk-bill option. The app gives patients discreet access to testing as well as results, all without the awkwardness of seeing a doctor face-to-face.

“If you're under 29, download the app and go and get tested today. This could eradicate more than 100,000 cases of undiagnosed Chlamydia this week! ” Dr Tanner said.

The most recent report into sexually transmissible infections in Australia identified the hidden dangers of putting off testing, highlighting that more than 1 in 25 young people aged 15-29 in Australia had chlamydia during 2021 but less than a third of those received a diagnosis**.

Stigma Health is on a mission to eradicate STIs in Australia and are passionate about increasing awareness of testing in younger age groups. To show their support, from now until 19th November, Stigma Health is offering 25% off their testing service by using the coupon code “schoolies23” at check-out.

Stigma Health offers comprehensive testing with a bulk-bill option for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV. Access is available through www.stigmahealth.com or via the Stigma Health app.
