The Business Council of Australia has appointed GrainCorp Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Robert Spurway as the new Chair of its Macroeconomic Committee.
Mr Spurway replaces Alison Kitchen AM, who will be retiring from her role as Chair but remaining on the committee.
BCA Chief Executive Bran Black said Mr Spurway will lead the BCA's Macroeconomic Committee and assist in identifying opportunities for Australian companies to boost private investment.
"The BCA's Macroeconomics Committee is focused on finding solutions that improve Australia's overall competitiveness and productivity.
"Robert's experience will be invaluable to driving outcomes that boost investment opportunities across the economy," Mr Black said.
Remarking on his appointment, GrainCorp Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Robert Spurway said the committee would prioritise strengthening Australia's economic conditions to help deliver faster growth in productivity, more jobs and higher wages.
"I feel privileged to be appointed Chair of the Business Council's Macroeconomic Committee and am excited to drive innovative policies that improve living standards for all Australians," Mr Spurway said.
"Australia has long enjoyed significant economic prosperity. However, with the backdrop of an increasingly competitive international environment, we need to work even harder to attract business investment and safeguard Australia's economic future."
Mr Black also noted the important work of Ms Kitchen as a longstanding Chair of the Committee.
"I'd like to thank Alison for her long-term commitment to the BCA and efforts made to promote Australia's sustained economic growth and prosperity," Mr Black said.
"We appreciate Alison's work to advance Australia's economic conditions and business settings and look forward to her continued partnership with the Committee."
The Macroeconomic Committee brings together Business Council of Australia members across a range of sectors to collaborate and drive opportunities for national economic growth.
