- Measuring Change Project to track impact of volunteering activities in Western Australia

Volunteering Minister Don Punch has today presented a $375,000 Lotterywest grant to Volunteering WA for the development of a new toolkit to measure and communicate the positive impacts of the volunteering sector in Western Australia.
The Measuring Change Project aims to provide an easy-to-navigate approach for the volunteering sector to effectively measure their impact on communities, organisations and volunteers.
Understanding the impact is essential for service improvement, showcasing the success of initiatives, and to guide future planning activities.
The toolkit is being developed to address the gap in capacity and resources for volunteering involving organisations to effectively measure their impact.
An Expression of Interest (EOI) is being held by Volunteering WA for up to 10 volunteering organisations to participate in the second phase of the project's development including live testing, refining and evaluating the prototype tool.
The organisations will help shape the final toolkit which will be available to all Western Australian volunteering involving organisations.

"The Measuring Change Project will provide volunteering involving organisations with a fit-for-purpose toolkit to effectively measure the impacts of their activities and programs.
"This toolkit will help volunteering involving organisations better showcase the positive impacts they have on Western Australian communities, organisations and volunteers.

As stated by Volunteering WA CEO Tina Williams:
"As the peak body for volunteering, Volunteering WA aims to address an identified gap of effectively measuring the impact of volunteer programs.
"Through co-design, we will develop an innovative, fit-for-purpose toolkit for measuring outcomes of volunteer programs that is designed by the sector, for the sector.
"The project will build organisational capacity to make impact-led decisions, increase the value perception of volunteering, and help organisations effectively allocate resources.
"With support from Lotterywest and the WA Government, Volunteering WA will test, develop and deliver an impact measurement tool for the WA Volunteering sector, starting with a seven-month-long co-design phase with volunteer involving organisations."
