Grants Open For Tasmanian Veterans' Organisations

Tasmanian Government

Up to $50,000 in funding is available to Tasmanian RSL clubs, sub-branches and ex-service organisations as part of the 2024-25 Teddy Sheean VC Memorial Grants Program.

Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Jacquie Petrusma, said round two of the program will assist in the repair of war memorials, construction of new memorials, and support for the health and wellbeing of veterans.

"The Tasmanian Liberal Government recognises the valuable contribution of Tasmania's service men and women and is committed to supporting the serving and ex-service community in Tasmania," Minister Petrusma said.

"The Teddy Sheean VC Memorial Grants Program was established as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice made by Tasmanian sailor Edward 'Teddy' Sheean VC, who gave his life for his country and fellow shipmates during a battle in 1942 off the coast of East Timor.

"This grants program honours Teddy Sheean VC as a representative of the many Tasmanians who selflessly gave their lives for others in the defence of this country.

"An important part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is continuing to support our valued veteran community."

The Grants Program will provide grants of up $10,000 for minor capital works, and/or refurbishment, $5,000 for equipment purchases for RSL cubs, sub-branch and ex-service organisations, and up to $5,000 towards the repair and maintenance of war memorials, and construction of new memorials.

It will also provide grants of up to $5,000 to eligible organisations for initiatives to support the health and wellbeing of veterans.
