Community golf, rowing, squash and football clubs, plus many more will benefit from Government grants which will help with the recovery process following major flooding.
In October 2022, there were floods affecting 17 municipalities across Northern Tasmania.
Under the Australian and Tasmanian Governments Disaster Funding Recovery Arrangements, several programs targeted to specific sectors were opened for applicants for recovery funding to assist those affected by the flooding.
Under the Sport and Recreation Recovery Grant program, grants of between $5,000 and $25,000 were available to eligible organisations.
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Nic Street, announced today that 14 Tasmanian sport and recreation clubs will receive support, with funding totalling more than $177,000.
"These grants will assist with the costs of clean-up and reinstatement of not-for-profit sport and recreation organisations," he said.
"These organisations play an integral part in local economies and communities, and this assistance is designed to help minimise disruption in the affected areas and support the broader community with the recovery process.
"The Rockliff Liberal Government is building a caring community and we will always be there for our disaster-affected communities when they need us."
