Greenpeace Demands Biodiversity Funds at COP16

Greenpeace

Rome, Italy – On the eve of CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity) COP16 talks reconvening, Greenpeace sent a message on the urgency of taking decisive action to protect our planet's biodiversity. Directly outside the negotiations venue, Greenpeace called on the COP16 presidency and governments in Rome to fulfill their commitments on three to four metre high dominos with colourful images of biodiversity.

Photos can be found in the Greenpeace Media Library.

Martina Borghi, Forest Campaigner, Greenpeace Italy said: "The dominos display outside the negotiation venue represents what happens to biodiversity when governments fail to act: a cascading collapse of loss and destruction. Leaders must stop the fall and put real money on the table-without urgent and adequate finance, promises mean nothing."
