Grievous bodily harm, Nerang

Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man following an alleged assault in Nerang yesterday afternoon (September 3).

Initial investigations indicate around 2:30pm; a 51-year-old Boyland man was sitting in a silver 2014 Mitsubishi ASX wagon near a Station Street shopping centre before being approached by an unknown man.

The men engaged in a verbal altercation outside the vehicle, resulting in the Boyland man being punched, falling to the ground and further assaulted by the other man.

Following the altercation, the unknown man fled the scene on foot towards the nearby shopping centre.

The 51-year-old Boyland man sustained serious facial injuries and was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital.

The offender, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, is described as Caucasian with spikey bleached blonde hair, approximately 185cm tall, with a skinny build and was wearing long dark coloured pants and carrying a shopping bag over his shoulder.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, have CCTV/dashcam of the area or may know the offender to contact police.
