Grievous bodily harm, West End

Detectives have charged a man after another man had an unknown substance poured over him at West End earlier today.

Around 7.10am police were called to the intersection of Boundary St and Mollison St, where a man had sustained significant burns.

The 24-year-old victim was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two men were initially assisting police with inquiries and two crime scenes established.

A 41-year-old West End man has been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

He has been refused bail and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow, October 5.

A second man arrested has since been released after inquiries indicated he was not involved in the incident.

Investigations continue into the as-yet unidentified substance used.
