With a whopping 859 entries received in the Design Your Own Bookmark Competition and a host of great things planned this week, Griffith City Library is the place to be.
Inspired by this year's theme, Curious Creatures, Wild Minds, staff at the Library are inviting locals to help celebrate Book Week 2020.
Come in and view all 859 bookmark entries on display, sit down and watch the 35 minute collection of videos sent from local schools giving tours, book reviews and more, or come in and borrow a book from the 2020 book of the year shortlist.
Griffith City Library's People and Programs Team Leader, Sharmaine Delgado said, the week was about celebrating the joy and benefits of reading.
"Book Week 2020 is here and we would love everyone to come along to see the amazing display the Library staff have created as well as all of the amazing bookmark designs," she said.
"We announced the winners on Monday 19 October, with Nadia Battistel winner for the K-2 category, Sienna Hudson for the year 3-4 and Hayley Morton for Year 5-6.
"The winning bookmarks have been professionally printed and are available in the Library. Students also created videos which will be screened every day during Book Week."
Griffith Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi congratulated the winners.
"I am so impressed with how creative Griffith kids are," Councillor Dal Broi said.
"It is amazing to see them all on display and I'd like to thank all those who entered.
"Book Week is such an important event as it allows us to celebrate books and encourage reading."
