The Griffith Regional Sports Centre has announced a temporary change in availability of its facilities to accommodate scheduled maintenance works and to serve the community during the NSW Local Government Election period.
The Centre will undergo essential annual maintenance in July while also providing hire space for the NSW Electoral Commission from July through to October 2024.
The Griffith Regional Sports Centre will be undertaking significant essential maintenance works, requiring the closure of all 5 new stadium indoor courts from 1 July to 14 July. These works are essential for maintaining the facility's high standards and include the annual re-coat of the sports floors, ensuring optimal performance and safety for all users. Furthermore, to accommodate the painting of Badminton court lines, additional specific maintenance on the new hall area will be conducted.
In addition to these maintenance works, the Griffith Regional Sports Centre will host the NSW Electoral Commission Returning Office for the upcoming Council elections. A portion of the facility, specifically the old stadium and associated amenities and offices, will be dedicated to the NSW Electoral Commission from 15 July to 18 October, serving as a Returning Officer and Prepoll Location for the NSW Local Government Election. Provision has been made during this time to allow the Basketball NSW Southern Jamboree to take place from 11 to 13 October.
Recognising the importance of continuity for our users, the Griffith Regional Sports Centre has proposed alternative options for those with existing bookings during these periods. The Griffith Regional Sports Centre appreciates the understanding and support of its patrons and stakeholders however, these temporary changes are in the interest of maintaining the facility's quality and supporting our community's civic responsibilities.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their cooperation and support in ensuring the Griffith Regional Sports Centre remains a top-tier facility for sports and community events.
