Griffith Task Force Seeks Input on Housing Supply Strategies

At the Ordinary Meeting of Council held on Tuesday, 28 August 2024, Council endorsed for public exhibition the Griffith Worker and Housing Shortage Taskforce draft "Report on Strategies to Increase Housing Supply - August 2024".

The Griffith Worker and Housing Shortage Taskforce is a joint initiative of the Griffith Business Chamber and Griffith City Council, which was formed in November 2023. It also has representatives from the office of Mrs. Helen Dalton MP, State Member for Murray, and the office of Hon. Sussan Ley MP, Federal Member for Farrer.

The purpose of the Taskforce is to develop strategies to increase the supply of workers and housing within the Griffith Local Government Area (LGA). As a preliminary focus, the Taskforce has concentrated on the development of housing strategies to increase the supply of affordable housing, and thereby improve the recruitment and retention of workers within the Griffith LGA.

A community forum was held on Wednesday 12 June 2024 to gather the views of local stakeholders and inform the development of the housing strategy report.

Council welcomes submissions regarding the draft report and should be made in writing addressed to the General Manager, Griffith City Council, PO Box 485, GRIFFITH NSW 2680 or visit Council's website: www.griffith.nsw.gov.au/on-exhibition to provide an online submission.

The closing date for submissions is Thursday, 10 October 2024. All submissions received will be reported to Council for consideration prior to adoption of a final report.
