Entries have now opened for the 2025 Grow It Local Awards that recognise local home growers who are making a difference to the community by growing, sharing and eating home-grown food.
The awards are open to anyone in Bayside growing produce in their backyard, balcony, community garden, school garden or windowsill.
Bayside Council, in partnership with Grow It Local, will present the Local Grower Award to the local grower who has made a positive contribution to the community.
The Local Grower Award includes a 12 month Grow It Local membership plus a compost bin or worm farm from Bayside Council.
To enter the competition residents will need to post a photo or video on Instagram or Facebook and tag Bayside Council and Grow it Local. There is no need to be a member of Grow It Local.
The six categories in the Grow it Local Awards 2025 are, 'Why I Love My Patch' Award, Homegrown Harvest Award, Australia's Best Chicken Name, Local Grower Award, Australia's Wonkiest Vegetable, Patch People.
Bayside partnered with Grow It Local in July 2023 to help the Bayside community grow, share and eat locally grown food.
Grow It Local is an online local grow community offering free organic seeds mailers, community workshops, live or online, that will help the Bayside community grow and share locally grown food.
