The Fruit Grower's Tasmania Seasonal Produce Guide has been officially launched for another year showcasing some of the best, fresh food the state has to offer.
Minister for Primary Industries and Water Jo Palmer joined Fruit Growers Tasmania CEO Peter Cornish at Willie Smiths in Ranelagh, to celebrate the release of the 2023/24 guide.
Minister Palmer said the Produce Guide shines a spotlight on seasonal fruit at our farm gates, at retail and farmers markets, at events and on the menus and cafes and restaurants right across Tasmania.
"We are so fortunate in Tasmania to have an abundance of fresh and premium produce right on our doorstep and to be able to access this, so often directly from the farm gate or at markets," Minister Palmer said.
"The Seasonal Produce Guide is such a great resource helping locals and visitors alike to eat their way around Tasmania, it encourages farm visits and tasty stopovers in regional towns."
The release of the Guide coincides with the beginning of the summer fruit season as well as the summer tourism influx.
"This guide also celebrates our small businesses across Tasmania that are driving regional employment, growth and vibrancy in our communities," Minister Palmer said.
"Small businesses like our fruit growers, are the engine room of our economy and the Rockliff Liberal Government's long-term plan is delivering the confidence and conditions they need to thrive."
The Rockliff Liberal Government recently announced an additional $76,000 in funding to Fruit Growers Tasmania for a marketing and promotion project that aims to build on the high-quality of Tasmanian produce, highlighting the importance of fruit in a healthy and balanced diet and in turn drive increased consumption of fruit to support our growers.
Fruit Growers Tasmania CEO, Peter Cornish said Tasmania's fruit is of the highest quality and likely to be some of the best tasting fruit you'll experience anywhere.
"Our growers are dedicated to continually improving every aspect of their business and it's important for people to connect with our growers to truly experience all that Tasmania's horticulture sector has to offer," he said.
