Gunnedah Man Charged in Infant Murder Case

A Gunnedah man has been charged with murder after a baby died in hospital last month.

The four-month old boy was taken to Gunnedah Hospital on Monday 20 January 2025, and transferred to John Hunter Hospital where he died the following day (Tuesday 21 January 2025).

Detectives from Oxley Police District, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad and Child Abuse Squad, established Strike Force Monier to investigate the circumstances surrounding the child's death.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 20-year-old man at Tamworth about 8.45am today (Friday 7 February 2025).

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with murder (domestic violence).

The man, from Gunnedah, was refused bail overnight before appearing in Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 8 February 2025).
