Half Century Of Service

Barossa Council

Mayor Bim Lange has received a special honour in recognition of his 50 years' service to local government.

Presented with a certificate and badge commemorating the rare achievement, Clinton Jury, Local Government Association of South Australia CEO, was delighted to attend the June Council meeting to offer his personal congratulations.

"Someone who spends 50 years in local government clearly is a person driven by achieving the best outcomes for their community. When Councils are at their best, our communities are at their best, and Mayor Bim typifies this," said Mr Jury.

Humbled by the honour, Mayor Lange reflected on his five decades with Council.

"It's really about collaboration, listening and keeping the lines of communication open; understanding that people have different views and we need to continue to work together."

- Mayor Bim Lange

"Thanks to all the people within the community and the support I've received. It's been a real joy and it's been a delight."
