Harness CEO Forum To Push Private Health Reform Agenda

The AMA has identified the Private Health CEO Forum as a key vehicle to help drive much-needed reform to the private health sector.

We welcomed the federal government's release of the summary report from the Private Hospital Sector Financial Health Check late last week and announcement that a Private Health CEO Forum would be established in response to the .

The Private Hospital Health Check brought all key private players together, including the AMA, through the health check's specific CEO Forum to consider the financial sustainability of private hospitals.

AMA Vice President, Associate Professor Julian Rait, said the AMA welcomed the continuance of a CEO Forum.

"The AMA has long been calling for a stakeholder-led reform body as part of our advocacy for an independent Private Health System Authority ," he said.

"We also welcome the commitment to look at short-term measures to address some of the issues identified in the health check and, more importantly, the opportunity to explore long-term reform."
