Hats Off For Legacy In Top End

RAAF

More than $10,000 was raised for Legacy at the annual Northern Territory Officers' Ball (NTOB) in Darwin.

Over 300 guests attended from the Navy, Army and Air Force, as well as international friends from Marine Rotational Force Darwin (MRF-D) and local Defence industry representatives.

Thousands of dollars were donated to Legacy through ticket sales, sponsorship from Veolia and Sitzler, and raffle prizes.

Squadron Leader Andrew Miller, Executive Officer of 13 Squadron and Officer in Charge of the committee, said the event was a great way to celebrate the end of a busy northern exercise period - following Diamond Storm, Pitch Black and Predator's Run.

"The NTOB has been running for over two decades and is the major social event for both Australian Defence Force and United States Marine Corps Officers based in the NT," he said.

"Importantly, the event raises money and awareness for Legacy as its perpetual beneficiary and I'm proud to say that this year we raised over $10,000 for Legacy."

Guests included senior ADF Officers of HMAS Coonawarra, Robertson Barracks and RAAF Bases Darwin and Tindal, as well as the Commander of MRF-D, the Administrator of the Northern Territory and the NT Police Commissioner.

The organisation of the NTOB rotates between the three services, with Air Force leading the planning this year. It will be the Navy's turn to host in 2025.

Squadron Leader Miller said he was grateful to work with such a devoted team.

"I was very fortunate to be supported by a highly dedicated and passionate planning team with representatives from 114 Mobile Control and Reporting Unit, 452 Squadron and my own 13 Squadron.

"I thank them all for their months of hard work planning the NTOB during what is an already very busy year for RAAF Base Darwin."
