Hawkesbury Finalizes Australia Day Amid Busy Summer

With Christmas and New Year behind us, Hawkesbury City Council is finalising preparations for Australia Day on Sunday 26 January.

Our family-friendly community event runs from 5pm to 9pm at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor and is the perfect way to enjoy this special day with friends and family alongside our beautiful river.

Event favourite Farmer Dave will MC to ensure another fun and high-energy time for the whole family.

The thong-throwing championship is back for its third year, with junior, adult and emergency services competitions. Sign up to compete at Council's tent on the day and stake your claim for the 2025 Golden Thong trophy.

New this year will be the Ultimate Cricket Game. Make sure you sign up at the council tent to be part of a team. Competitions will run throughout the event with some cool prizes to be won. The popular fireworks display will cap things off at 9pm.

Summer events wrap

Light Up Windsor, held on both Sunday 1 December and Thursday 19 December, brought thousands of Hawkesbury families out to enjoy the Christmas cheer and see the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Mayor Les Sheather wished everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays as they poured through Windsor town centre to shop for presents, grab a meal and enjoy a Christmas giggle from the cheeky elves and Santa. Families enjoyed the cooler evening after a hot start to the week, and hundreds of children had their reindeer passports stamped or faces painted.

More than 40 market stalls surprised and delighted buyers, with many stalls selling out of their products.

Hawkesbury City Council would like to thank our event partner, the Windsor Business Group, and our event sponsors: Windsor RSL (Stage Sponsor), Rafton Family Lawyers (Reindeer Sponsor), Budget Car and Truck Rentals (Gold Sponsor), Western Sydney Airport (Silver Sponsor) and The Christmas Tree Company (Silver Sponsor).
