NSW Rural Fire Service has advised they have scheduled hazard reduction burns for 28 September 2023.
The burns will occur at:
- Collombatti – Oosthoek HR - size 1.28ha
- Barraganyatti – Bagley HR – size 4.58ha
- Valla – Giles HR – size 2.03ha
Transport for NSW have been advised as smoke may impact the highway with an easterly wind forecast.
Attempts to undertake these hazard reduction burns have been previously unsuccessful with the current conditions they allow for these burns to go ahead.
Patrols will be on-going for the following days post these burns.
Weather and hazard reduction burning conditions have been discussed with the District Manager and the State Fire Behaviour Analysts.
This will involve prescribed burning of vegetation to minimise bushfire fuel and mitigate the impact of potential bushfires during extreme weather conditions.
As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke from entering your homes.
- Protect outdoor furniture from ember burns by covering it.
- Remove pool covers to prevent damage from embers.
- Take down washing from clotheslines.
- Provide a protected area for your pets.
- When driving, slow down, keep windows up, and turn on headlights.
- If you have asthma or a lung condition, limit outdoor activities. Seek medical advice if you experience breathing difficulties due to smoke.
