Health Practitioner Charged in Historic Assault

A man has been charged over alleged historical sexual assaults in Sydney's inner west.

In March 2024, detectives from Leichhardt Police Area Command commenced Strike Force Carnell, to investigate the alleged historical sexual assault of a patient by a male health practitioner between January 2012 and May 2019.

Police will allege that the man allegedly indecently assaulted the male patient, aged between 40 and 47 at the time, at the various health practices in Waverton, Kirribilli, Rozelle and Balmain.

Following extensive inquires, the 79-year-old man, was arrested at Balmain Police Station today (Thursday 4 July 2024).

He was issued a Court Attendance Notice, charged with five counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of aggravated sexual touching.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 23 August 2024.
