The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) is proud to host the Inaugural Andy Gilbert Great Debate tonight in Adelaide. The debate will focus on Primary Care towards a Collaborative or Fragmented Future, bringing together key thought leaders in our community to debate the future of primary health care.
The Great Debate is named after Emeritus Professor Andrew Gilbert FPS, one of Australia's most influential pharmacists. Prof. Gilbert was founding director of The Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacy Research Centre, and was internationally renowned for his work in quality use of medicines, medicine safety, pharmacoepidemiology and medicines policy.
Moderator Professor Justin Beilby said the event will bring together industry experts to debate how our health system can better work for patients.
"Across the health sector there are a number of views on primary care," Professor Beilby said.
"Pharmacists, general practitioners, and other allied health professionals are vital to providing equitable healthcare, but how and where these teams work together is hotly debated.
"The Andy Gilbert Great Debate is an opportunity for opposing sides to present their case, and for the industry to listen and make up their own minds."

Team Collaboration will argue that collaboration is worth building into the future, while Team Fragmentation will argue for maintenance of the status-quo, and that time and resources should not be dedicated to building new integrated models.
