Join Michael Bennett for a unique author talk on his book, Pathfinders: A history of Aboriginal Trackers in NSW, at Kempsey Library on Tuesday 12 July 4.30 - 5.30pm.
Aboriginal Trackers played a huge and sometimes controversial role in NSW law enforcement, searching for people lost in the bush, capture bushrangers and search for stolen stock. Trackers were employed at Kempsey until at least the 1950s.
In his author talk, Michael will discuss trackers in the Kempsey Shire who have shared their stories with him. These include Dundally who was based in Kempsey, Billy Holten who worked with Jerseyville police and Uncle Ray Peckham who worked with Kempsey Police.
