The NSW State Emergency Service (SES) has received 133 calls for help, as heavy rainfall lashed parts of the state.
Over the last 24 hours, approximately 100 millimetres of rain was recorded at Point Perpendicular, near Nowra.
A severe weather warning remains in place as a low-pressure system impacts the coast between Nowra and Narooma. Significant rainfall also fell in parts of Sydney last night, with some roads being cut due to flash flooding.
Minor flooding is likely at Canowindra early Sunday morning. River rises have been detected on the Belubula River and Mandagery Creek.
Overnight NSW SES crews have been working tirelessly to respond to calls for help from affected residents with several requests received for help including many downed trees and branches, as well as other storm related jobs such as assisting leaking roofs and water damage.
The weather system is also expected to bring further rainfall and damaging winds in the next 24 hours to parts of the Illawarra and South Coast.
NSW SES State Duty Commander, Assistant Commissioner Nicole Hogan said volunteers would be active in many parts of the state today.
"The threat from this weather system has not yet passed," she said.
"We are still seeing rain fall and while it will ease during the day, gale winds have been forecast for the Illawarra, Batemans and Eden Coastal areas."
Locations which may be affected include Batemans Bay, Moruya Heads, Huskisson, Ulladulla and Narooma.
The NSW SES is urging residents in the warning areas to secure loose items around their properties and to stay indoors if possible. Drivers are also advised to avoid unnecessary travel and to take extra care on the roads.
"People should secure or move items which could be blown away, such as trampolines, and beware of parking cars under trees, and remove branches near buildings," Assistant Commissioner Hogan said.
For emergency assistance during a flood or storm, call the NSW SES on 132 500. In life-threatening emergencies, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
