City of Darwin is calling for nominations to join the Arts and Cultural Development Advisory Committee, to help shape Council's artistic, creative and cultural direction.

The committee provides an opportunity for members of the arts, creative and cultural sectors to offer their expertise on relevant policies, programs and strategies in line with industry best practice.

Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said the committee played an important part in delivering the goals outlined in City of Darwin's Creative Strategy 2024-2030.

"Darwin is developing a rich community of artists, creatives and cultural professionals and we want this sector to be actively involved in Council's creative future," Mr Vatskalis said.

"The Arts and Cultural Development Committee is a great opportunity to continue to develop Darwin as a vibrant and engaged city, as well as foster collaborations between Council and the arts, creative and cultural communities.

"Our Creative Strategy was developed to encourage creativity, which makes this city a better place and has a positive impact on tourism and economic development," he said.

The committee acts within an advisory capacity and provides recommendations to advocate, inform and support City of Darwin's elevation of creativity and the arts for the enrichment of all.

Community member committee positions are voluntary and successful nominees will hold their position for two years between 1 October 2024 until 30 September 2026.

Nominations for community member positions close on Monday 2 September 2024.

The committee is made up of up to six representatives from the community, as well as Elected Members and representatives from City of Darwin.
