Help Sought After Woman Injured In Hit-and-run - South

Police are appealing for information after a pedestrian was seriously injured in Sydney's south-west at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to Smithfield Road, Greenfield Park, about 8.30pm last Sunday (13 October 2024), after reports a woman had been hit by a car.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were told the car did not stop after the crash, leaving the scene before emergency services arrived.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 27-year-old woman before she was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

Police closed Smithfield Road in both directions and established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Police have now released CCTV vision of a vehicle seen travelling along Smithfield Road before it stopped on Mimosa Road before driving off.

The vehicle is described as an early 2000s-model Honda Jazz, silver or light blue in colour.

Police would like to speak to the driver, who may be able to assist with inquiries.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to call Fairfield Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
