The Rockliff Liberal Government has supported more than 200 households on their journey to home ownership through the innovative MyHome Shared Equity Program.
MyHome, introduced on 1 July 2022, helps Tasmanians achieve home ownership by sharing the upfront costs of purchasing a home with Homes Tasmania and therefore allows for a reduction on the initial deposit and ongoing mortgage repayments.
Minister for Housing and Construction, Nic Street, said the initial 12 months have been overwhelmingly positive.
"This strong community uptake has confirmed that MyHome is entrenching itself as a viable pathway to home ownership," he said.
"Today, I was pleased to meet Dan and Jean Chisholm who are building in Rokeby with help from MyHome.
"The Chisholms are at lock-up with their build and it is extremely satisfying to see first-hand how MyHome is making a difference for Tasmanians.
"MyHome is a program delivered by the Bank of Us and is eligible for both singles and couples.
"The program assists people to help build or buy their own home, with as little as two per cent deposit.
"The Rockliff Liberal Government is doing what matters and supporting more Tasmanians into their own homes."
Assistance includes a maximum contribution of $200,000, or 40 per cent, of the purchase price of a new home or house and land package, and up to a maximum of $150 000, or 30 per cent, for the purchase price of an existing home.
