Council is seeking public feedback on proposed amendments to the Eden Town Centre section of Council's Development Control Plan (DCP) 2013 that would ensure any new developments were sympathetic to the existing character of the area.

"Our heritage is an important part of the Bega Valley, and particularly Eden, as it showcases our cultural and social history," Council's Manager of Planning and Sustainability, Keith Tull said.

"The draft DCP provides design guidelines that would apply to new development and rebuilds, to help maintain the precinct's distinctive identity and sense of place."

The amendment to the DCP considers the introduction of a Heritage Conservation Area at the southern end of Imlay Street.

Comments on the draft DCP are welcome during the exhibition period which runs until 7 March 2021.

Council will then consider a report from staff in relation to feedback received during public consultation.

The draft amendment to the Eden Town Centre of the Bega Valley DCP is available on Council's Have Your Say webpage.

Feedback will be accepted until midnight on Sunday 7 March 2021.
