The selfless work of the city's Heritage Walk Tour volunteers has received State-wide acclaim, with the group being recognised in the NSW Parliament.
A Community Recognition Statement was delivered by Member for Barwon Roy Butler on September 19 praising the group for their efforts.
"The tour guides are all volunteers that dedicate their time to tell the history of their unique town," said Mr Butler.
"I have seen firsthand the large number of tourists that take advantage of these tours, listening to the volunteers who are passionate about sharing their local history knowledge.
"I have had had the chance to listen in on the tour myself and am inspired by these incredible historians and story tellers. They certainly add to the tourist experience in Broken Hill."
Those wishing to volunteer as a Heritage Walk Tour Guide, or as a City Ambassador to welcome tourists and provide information, can contact Council's Visitor Services Coordinator, Patrick Kreitner, on 8080 3571.
