Northern Territory Police have charged a 45-year-old male in relation to a high range drink driving incident that occurred in Tennant Creek yesterday.

Around 9:45am, members of the Road Policing Division in Tennant Creek stopped a Holden sedan on Ambrose Street for a random breath test.

The 45-year-old male driver returned a positive result and was arrested for a breath analysis that returned a reading of 0.172 BrAC.

He has since been charged with Drive high range and Drive unlicensed.

Southern Road Policing Sergeant Conan Robertson said "NT Police has committed to having more police on our roads and we can be anywhere, anytime.

"I ask that the community works with us, talk with friends and family about the risks, and understand that there are often serious or fatal consequences when things go wrong on our roads.

"If road users choose to engage in bad practices you will be arrested, charged and brought before the courts.

"Please make safe decisions."
