The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested a 39-year-old female in relation to a high-range drink driving incident that occurred last night in Alice Springs.
Yesterday evening, officers from the Territory Road Policing Division stopped a Honda CRV on Spearwood Road, Sadadeen for the purpose of conducting a random breath test.
The 39-year-old female driver returned a breath analysis result of 0.218.
During the random breath test, it was discovered by officers that there was an unrestrained 4-year-old child on the backseat, along with two adult passengers in the rear cargo space of the vehicle not wearing the required restraints.
Police enquiries at the scene revealed that the female driver was the holder of a Learner's Licence.
She has been charged and will appear in Alice Springs Local Court on 26 February 2025.
Acting Senior Sergeant Rowan Benson from the Territory Road Policing Division said, "This was excellent work by the police members involved who are proactively tackling dangerous driving behaviours to make our roads safer for our community.
"The dangerous behaviours displayed by the driver has put a 4-year-old child, the other passengers, and members of our community at unjustifiable risk of serious injury or death.
"We all need to work together to stop these behaviours on our roads.
"The Territory Road Policing Division will continue to challenge bad behaviours, anywhere, anytime."
