A 37-year-old Hadspen man has had his motorbike confiscated for 90 days and will be proceeded against by summons following a high speed riding incident on the Bass Highway yesterday, Tasmania Police say.
Northern police were conducting speed detection duties around 5pm on the Bass Highway near Birralee Road when they detected a Blue Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle travelling east at 169 km/hr in a 110 km/hr zone.
The rider failed to stop when indicated by police and accelerated away from the scene.
As part of an ongoing investigation into the matter, police subsequently attended the owners address and spoke with the registered owner. The motorcycle was confiscated from a different address a short time later.
Anyone who witnessed the motorcycle travelling on the Bass Highway around the time is asked to contact Northern Road and Public Order Services on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
