Police officers from the Huonville and Kingston police stations, with the assistance of Road Policing Services conducted a high visibility static RBT site on the Channel Highway at Margate this morning.
Acting Sergeant Ben Fogarty stated "Of the 307 motorists intercepted, there was one defect notice issued, one unlicenced driver, two unregistered motor vehicles and one suspended driver. Of the 307 random breath tests conducted, there were no drink drivers or drug drivers were detected. It was pleasing to see that the majority of road users continue to do the right thing this holiday season".
Police were targeting the 'fatal five' – speeding, fatigue, distraction, seatbelts and alcohol/drugs.
"Safety on our roads is a priority for Tasmania Police and we will continue to conduct high visibility operations as we look out for you these holidays"
