Highgate Trespass Incident

A 32-year-old Highgate man will receive a Criminal Code Infringement Notice (CCIN) after being rescued from a crane at a construction site in Highgate last night, Saturday 22 May 2021.
About 10:15pm a Highgate resident reported to police that he could hear a person at a nearby construction site on Wright Street calling out for help after becoming stuck at or near the top of a crane.
Perth Police and Department of Fire and Emergency Service personnel attended the scene. The man was rescued from the crane.
The attending officers established the man's identity, confirming he had no previous link to the site and had simply decided to try to climb the crane.
It will be alleged the man did not have permission to be on the construction site and gained entry by climbing over a fence. The man then proceeded to climb up the crane, before realising he was not able to climb back down, at which point he started yelling out for help.
The 32-year-old Highgate man was taken home by Perth Police and was advised he would be sent the $500 CCIN in place of a criminal 'Trespass' charge.
