Extreme weather is forecast to lash Sydney from this afternoon and as a result, Christmas events scheduled to be held tonight and on Saturday have been postponed.
ILLUMINATE THE HILLS AT CHRISTMAS
Tonight's opening of Illuminate The Hills at the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Rose Garden will now take place on Sunday 1 December.
Severe electrical storms, hail, damaging winds and heavy rain are predicted to start from this afternoon. Lightning is an event hazard for attendees, vendors and staff, and while this outcome is not ideal, the safety of everyone in attendance is our chief priority.
The rescheduled Illuminate The Hills Opening Night will take place on Sunday, 1 December 2024 from 7pm. Weather permitting, the event will run as planned with FREE coffee, ice cream and sausage sizzle (limited availability). We'll also enjoy a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus as well as some carollers.
MAYOR'S CHILDREN'S CHRISTMAS PARTY
The Mayor's Children's Christmas Party originally scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to Sunday 15 December. All tickets will remain valid for the new date.
There is approximately 35mm of rain forecast for tomorrow (Friday 29 November) and on Saturday 30 November. The predicted heavy rain means the Farm's grounds will be unsuitable for activities. The heavy rain will also wash out parking on-site, making it impossible for vendors such as the amusement rides to set up.
Ticket holders will be contacted to ensure they can attend the new date.
