Police have charged a man with dangerous driving following a two-vehicle crash at Bowenville yesterday (Sunday, September 26).
Patrolling police spotted a vehicle with alleged incorrect number plates at around 4pm on the New England Highway, Spring Creek (near Clifton) with the male driver failing to stop for officers when they attempted to intercept the car.
About an hour later police were called to a two-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway at Bowenville and received reports that a man had fled the scene on foot and was last seen heading towards Dalby.
With the assistance of witnesses, police located the alleged driver of one of the vehicles hiding in a sorghum crop less than a kilometre away from the crash scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 53-year-old man was not injured.
A 25-year-old Warwick man was arrested and charged with evade police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to comply with duties at a crash, obstruct police, drive unregistered vehicle, drive uninsured vehicle, drive vehicle with false plates, drive vehicle with cancelled plates, possession of drug utensil and possessing restricted items.
He was denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today (September 27).
