We're gearing up for a month of pedal power and encouraging the community to register for Biketober from 1-31 October. The City of Stonnington has signed up as an official contender, which means all Stonnington residents and businesses can take part in the challenge free of charge, earn points and win some great prizes.
Biketober is a national month-long event aimed at shining a bike-light on the benefits of riding a bike, not only for the environment but for your general health and wellbeing. Whether you're new to riding or a bit of a Steven Bradbury, Biketober is the fun, friendly challenge for you. All you need to do is pop on your helmet and hop on your bike and ride anywhere, anytime, during the month of October. Round up your friends, family and co-workers to do the same. It might even change the way you think about how you get around in the future.
You'll be in full swing and totally focused on your Biketober challenge when National Ride2Work Day rolls around on Wednesday 16 October. But if you're still not quite there, or there's been something holding you back; the weather, your confidence, or motivation, take this day to proudly say "I DID IT!". National Ride2Work Day is the one day of the year when riding to work is officially recognised as supporting 'active commuting' and community spirit.
