HKU holds Flag-raising ceremony for the New Year

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) celebrated the advent of the new year with a flag-raising ceremony at Grand Hall, Centennial Campus today (1 Jan). Council Chairman, Mr Peter Wong and Acting President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Richard Wong, together with members of the Council, Senate, faculties, staff, students of the University, and invited guests, attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was a symbolic start to the year, reflecting the University's commitment to excellence, innovation, and reinforcing its mission to nurture talent and intellectual discovery.

In recent years, HKU excelled on the global stage, securing second place in the 2024 and 2025 QS Asia University Rankings, and tenth globally among all institutions in the list of "Highly Cited Researchers 2024" by Clarivate Analytics. These accolades highlight the University's dedication to pioneering education, research innovation, and AI-readiness, solidifying its standing as a global leader in academia and innovation.
