HKU and HSBC have partnered to launch the "Pop-Up Fraud University" campaign, enhancing fraud awareness among staff and students and fostering a campus-wide anti-scam culture.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and HSBC are partnering to host an innovative "Pop-Up Fraud University" anti-scam campaign from 14 to 26 March 2025, at the ground floor of the K. K. Leung Building. In response to the recent rise in scam cases, this interactive event aims to enhance scam awareness among HKU students and staff while fostering a campus-wide anti-scam culture.
To bolster fraud awareness education, HSBC is bringing over 30 exhibits from its "Fraud University" exhibition, which demonstrate scam tactics across various aspects of daily life. Through engaging and relatable interactive experiences, the event aims to educate students and staff on how to identify and counter scams, thereby strengthening their awareness and resilience.
Professor Samson Tse, Dean of Student Affairs warmly invites all students and staff to join this meaningful initiative. He remarked, "Scammers' tactics are constantly evolving, and HKU employs various tactics—such as talks, film screenings, and anti-scams questionnaires—to protect our students from falling victim to fraud. Scam prevention is a long-term battle. HKU is committed to providing a safe learning environment, and through this 'Pop-Up Fraud University' campaign, we aim to educate students in a fun, interactive way to avoid scams, further reinforcing fraud awareness and building a campus anti-scam culture."
