The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its first Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony in two years today to honor faculty and staff members who have served the University for at least two decades.
First established in 2010, the annual Long Service Awards shows the University's appreciation and recognition of our long-serving teaching and administrative staff. It was also meant to foster a sense of belonging for the HKUST community. The 2020 presentation ceremony was deferred for a year due to the pandemic, therefore the ceremony this year honored recipients from both 2020 and 2021.
The University conferred the 30 and 20 Years of Service Awards upon a total of 209 awardees at the ceremony respectively, including 149 University members completing 30 years of service and 60 of 20 years.
Held first time at the Shaw Auditorium, the University's newly unveiled landmark of arts, culture, and creativity, the ceremony was attended by HKUST President Prof. Wei SHYY and other senior management members. The awardee's families and friends were also invited to the ceremony to share the happiness.
Officiating at the award presentation ceremony, Prof. Wei Shyy said, "As HKUST celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, it gives me great pride to honor our dedicated colleagues whose years of commitment have supported HKUST's growth into a progressive, world-renowned international university. I hope our colleagues can carry forward the diligence, resilience, and can-do spirit that have made such achievements possible, and create even greater impact in their chosen fields."
